Role Overview:
AAIDD seeks one or more part-time or full-time skilled SIS Training Specialists to join its dynamic SIS training team. Duties include providing in-person and remote training and technical assistance across the U.S. and supporting the organization’s professional training program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide highly specialized SIS training and technical guidance to jurisdictions across U.S., its Territories, and Canada.
- Support the planning, scheduling, and integration of SIS training activities and programs.
- Support and actively participate in program development to include contributing to the development of customized training proposals, informational/promotional/resource materials, and updating revisions to existing online courses.
- Collaborate with SIS Training Manager to develop training plans, webinars, and informational sessions for a variety of SIS users and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and facilitation of courses, including online courses and quality assurance trainings that reflect best practices.
- Perform SIS training tasks as assigned and within specified timeframe.
- Assess jurisdictions’ SIS training and development needs and respond to inquiries about the SIS in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Contribute to an integrated, effective, flexible, and collaborative team environment.
- Travel to and participate in conferences, meetings, and training events as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years’ work experience relevant to the position.
- Excellent oral, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Expertise in delivering training to both in-person and virtual audiences.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and preparation procedures.
- Experience with adult learning principles, training methodologies, course design techniques, and training formats.
- Experience with instructional platforms, systems approach to training, and the development of training products.
- Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office and related software applications.

- Ability to plan and effectively manage multiple training projects across various time zones.
- Ability to travel for in-person SIS training as required.
- Ability to apply knowledge of SIS curriculum and preparation procedures.
- Ability to assess training and development needs, interpret the meaning of questions, and develop appropriate responses.
- Ability to analyze and communicate SIS training trends.
- Ability to understand and interpret oral instructions and/or written directions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
- Ability to produce clear written materials for technical and non-technical audiences and to self-edit most typographic and grammatical errors.
- Ability to perform close, detailed work involving considerable visual effort and concentration.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize Microsoft Office and a variety of web-based software programs at an acceptable rate of accuracy and speed.
- Ability to effectively work with and serve a diverse community.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position (e.g., ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods of time, speak on the phone frequently during the day, and travel when needed).

- Currently recognized SIS assessors, with a minimum of three years’ full-time SIS assessment experience are encouraged to apply.
