AAIDD Conference: Covid-19
AAIDD is deeply sorry to announce that because of the extraordinary occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has canceled its 2020 annual meeting and conference in Pittsburgh, scheduled for June 1-4, 2020. This appears to be the first time in the organization's 144-year history that the annual meeting has been cancelled, and we will be refunding the registration fees for all who have registered.
We want to acknowledge and thank the presenters, the planning and local arrangements committees, the panel reviewers, staff, and volunteers for all their efforts in preparing for this meeting. You may be interested in this blog post from APA which describes how to cite an accepted session for a conference that was cancelled.
While the conference itself will not take place, we are planning several opportunities to showcase the presentations that would have been made:
- The presidential address will be delivered at a future date via webinar and we expect to invite a few of the accepted sessions to be delivered via webinar as well.
- We will host brief videos of accepted conference presentations on our Instagram.
- We are considering options that would allow for at least some of the sessions accepted this year to be presented at next year's meeting.
- We are also considering our options for celebrating our 2020 Awardees, Fellows, and Scholarship winners.
We hope you will plan to (a) submit an abstract this fall during our call for proposals and (b) attend next year's conference in Jacksonville, Florida June 21-24, 2021. Looking ahead, we are considering the possibility of hosting our 2022 meeting in Pittsburgh.
