Project Director (GUCCHD)

The Georgetown University Center for Child & Human Development (GUCCHD) is dedicated to fostering a stronger society by promoting the wellbeing of ALL children, adults and families and creating more inclusive communities. We execute this mission through research, training & technical assistance, scholarship and thought leadership. Through the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC), the GUCCHD has been awarded a contract with the NY Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (NY OPWDD). The project is designed to advance policies and practices of equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI), and cultural and linguistic competence in all components of the intellectual disability and developmental disability (ID/DD) system of New York State. 

The Project Director will oversee a complex, a state-wide, multifaceted project that will provide technical assistance, consultation, professional development and training, and community engagement over a three-year period. They will interface with: (1) persons with the lived experience of ID/DD and their families across diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic, and other identify groups that reside in the state, (2) New York State government employees; (3) ID/DD provider network in the state, and (4) other key stakeholders and organizations.

The Project Director will manage this $10 million/3 year first of its kind project that has the potential for replication in other states and territories. They will work with the PI, Co-PI, NY OPWDD and Georgetown teams to design, conduct and evaluate this multi-year, multi-faceted program, which will impact the NY OPWDD workforce, service providers, and persons with lived experience in NY. 

The Project Director will ensure adherence to and accountability for implementation of the project work plan and associated reporting; and will contribute to the development of program strategies, provide technical assistance and training, develop products and other resources and direct long-term planning.

In collaboration with the PI, Co-PI and Center leadership, the Project Director will represent the Georgetown University NCCC in fiscal and programmatic matters with NY OPWDD; and will manage and oversee the work of the project team, composed of more than 25 full- and part-time faculty, staff, and consultants.  

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in a human services or related field
  • At least 7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement large-scale, complex and multifaceted technical assistance, consultation, professional development and training, and community engagement initiatives within ID/DD systems focused exclusively on equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural and linguistic competence at the national and state levels
  • Demonstrated capacity to ensure the engagement of persons with the lived experience of ID/DD and their families across diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and other identity groups
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage and lead specific projects and initiatives across a broad array of disability-related priority areas
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team to conduct training, technical assistance, and consultation for diverse constituents and stakeholders

Preferred qualification

  • A lived experience with intellectual or developmental disabilities
