About the Delta Gamma Center
Founded in 1951 by Delta Gamma alumnae, the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments (DGC) is a St. Louis based nonprofit organization with the mission to help children who are blind or visually impaired reach their full potential through family-centered, specialized services and community support.
DGC’s goal is to help families with children with visual impairments move forward with anticipation and hope. The combination of early intervention, parent education, and support for the entire family helps build a solid foundation for learning. The Delta Gamma Center currently works with children and families within a fifty-mile radius of St Louis, in both Illinois and Missouri.
DGC offers a range of programming focused on comprehensive early intervention to address the needs of infants and toddlers who are blind or visually impaired and their families. Services include vision screening, education, orientation and mobility services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy services for children with complex developmental challenges. A broad array of family support services is available as well.
DGC also has unique programming for school aged youth--- the GRADS (Group Recreation and Developmental Support) Program. The GRADS initiative helps participants develop friendships, as well as achieve independence and participate in community activities.
DGC supports and encourages those served to achieve their full potential, have strong relationships with family and friends, and provides equal opportunities to participate, contribute and lead joyful lives.
The organization has a growing staff of more than 25 and 6 direct reports to the Executive Director. The Center provides services and support to 300-400 children and families each year. Additionally, DGC screens over 3,500 young children each year for vision loss, with 8% - 10% referred for additional evaluation by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
The organization currently has a $2M revenue budget with an intent to increase this through strategic growth plans. In addition the organization has a strong balance sheet with board governed reserves that enable the DGC to deliver critical services during economic cycles, business cycles, and strategic planning cycles.
While a separate 501c3 nonprofit organization, DGC maintains close relationships to the Delta Gamma collegiate and alumnae chapters in the St. Louis area, as well as the DG Foundation, which provides support for centers around the country.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant degree area, 5+ years of successful managerial experience, is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments (DGC) responsible for overseeing the culture, administration, staffing, finances, programs and strategic plan implementation of the organization. Other key duties include community outreach, marketing and fundraising The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities of the Executive Director
Leads DGC in a manner that supports the organization’s mission, as defined by the Board of Directors.
Ensures the timely and accurate provision of information to the Board regarding the overall organization, responds promptly to requests for information and works to apprise the Board on perceived strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities related to the organization for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.
Works with the Board President to ensure active, engaged, and productive Board committees.
Financial Performance and Viability
Maintains the fiscal integrity of DGC to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
Oversees fiscal management of the organization that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget.
Actively participates in fundraising and developing other revenues to support the work of the organization.
Ensures an annual audit is performed.
Ensures annual review of investment portfolio and advisors is performed.
Organization Mission and Strategy
Ensures the mission is fulfilled through provision of quality programs, services, and working effectively with the state, other funders, and service providers.
Works closely with the Board on strategic planning to ensure that the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
Actively supervises marketing and communications efforts that enhance DGC’s image, in part, by being active, visible, and by working closely with appropriate state, professional, civic and private partners.
Stays current on industry standards and innovative practices; implements evidence-based and practice-informed best practices, benchmarks DGC’s work against like local and national organizations.
Oversees utilization of staffing, facilities and other resources to ensure that the operations of the organization’s programs/services are effective. In 2023 this includes a return to reopening the DGC facility fully “post” pandemic.
Ensures agency policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current practices and activities of the organization.
Responsible for hiring, training and retention of competent, qualified staff. Ensures that personnel have the information, training and guidance they need to be effective.
Responsible for establishing longer term and semi-annual objectives, consistent with the strategic objectives and contractual obligations of DGC, and measuring/reporting on progress against those goals.
Responsible for reviewing/signing all agreements and other instruments made and entered into on behalf of the organization in accordance with Board policies. Will utilize outside professional services to assist as appropriate.
Assures agency’s relevant licensure(s)/certification(s) is/are maintained.

Salary and Benefits
Salary: The anticipated salary range associated with the position is $125,000 - $150,000, which is based, in part, on meeting certain performance criteria that shall be mutually agreed upon. Salary is competitive with both national and regional data, and St. Louis has a comparatively low cost of living (i.e., the median price for a 3 BR 2BA home in St Louis is $243K vs the same home in Boston is $715K.)
Annual raises are provided following performance reviews conducted by the Board.
Benefits: Medical (4 options) dental and vision coverage is available, as is disability, life and ADD insurance. Retirement options include a 403 (b) tax deferred annuity and defined contribution pension plan. Three weeks of vacation, plus DGC traditionally closes the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, as well as various holidays throughout the year.
Relocation Expense: Reimbursement for relocation expense is available and negotiable.
