Donald J. Anderson, MSW
Donald “Don” Anderson passed away after a short illness on March 3, 2023. Mr. Anderson was a lifelong educator, and probably most known for his career at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work, University of Wisconsin-Madison. He held several positions during his career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and retired as a Senior Lecturer.
Mr. Anderson was a long and active member of AAIDD. Over the years, he served in a number of leadership roles on the boards of the Wisconsin AAIDD Chapter (AAIDD-WI) and AAIDD Region VI, and chaired the AAIDD Social Work Interest Network.
In 2015, the AAIDD-WI established its Don Anderson Student Scholarship in honor of his extensive work in the IDD field and as an educator. Mr. Anderson was honored with a number of awards for his teaching and service over the course of his career, including the 2012 Educator-Teacher Award byThe Arc of Dane County, which recognized his teaching and mentorship of hundreds of students to prepare them for careers in the IDD field.
