 TITLE:   Director of Clinical Social Work Services (LISW) 
 SUPERVISED BY:    Associate Executive Director
  Social Worker (LSW & LISW);
Behavior Support  Specialist (RBT)
 JOB CLASSIFICATION:   Full-time, exempt



The Director of Clinical Social Work Services will be the lead agency professional supervising all clinical and social work staff, assessing and addressing all clinical matters with agency clients (and their families as needed), managing the intake/admission process, acting as a liaison between the agency and community based clinical providers.


Candidate must be an Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and have a minimum of 5-7 years professional experience. Supervisory experience and familiarity with ID/DD population are highly preferred.  


  • Must have excellent written, verbal, and public speaking/communication skills.
  • Must adhere to Code of Ethics of NASW.
  • Must demonstrate integrity and strong ability to be a leader, resource and support to all frontline and leadership staff.
  • Must have a belief in and understanding of agency’s mission and ability to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission and values to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be able to transport self, in a timely manner, to and from meetings, conferences and events related to the work of the organization. This requires having reliable transportation and a valid Ohio driver’s license with four points or less.


  • Oversee all counseling and social work services provided under the waiver program, including assisting with assessment and referral and assigning counseling and advocacy caseloads.
  • Provide direct psychosocial intervention to clients and families.
  • Coordinate crisis intervention, including coordinating response in the sites or in the community.
  • Coordinate grief counseling needs for clients and staff.
  • Provide support to staff after crisis situations and as related to caregiver fatigue.
  • Support and supervise Social Worker (LSW) and Behavior Support Specialist in advocating for all clients’ and families’ best interests.
  • Assist with coordinating the admission and discharge process, including the completion of Level of Care for ICF Group Homes.
  • Coordinate client mental health care with outside providers—both ongoing and emergency, as needed
  • Act as liaison between agency and psychiatric hospitals/stabilization units/nursing facilities during discharge planning for client return home
  • Work with Program Director in the Parent Compass model of service coordination to include individual and family counseling and oversight of guardianship program.
  • Complete probate court guardianship papers for families when needed or required.
  • Facilitate the agency’s Clinical Review Team and lead regular meetings
  • Work with the QA Director on promoting and facilitating care quality initiatives
  • Provide support and training to staff as needed.
  • Represent the agency professionally at community meetings; attend community meetings on behalf of the agency.
  • Attendance is a required and essential expectation of the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
