Aspire programs focus on life and career skills for adults with developmental disabilities. They are offered throughout Chicagoland, surrounding suburbs, Southeast Wisconsin and virtually. Each one is designed with partnership in mind. Its recent merger with Northpointe has effectively doubled the size of the organization, currently serving nearly 200 individuals over an expanded geography.

Aspire is in an extremely strong financial position with net assets of nearly $17M and limited restricted assets. The organization has implemented a new General Ledger system, has strong and multiple reserves, including an operating reserve, facility reserve, and a board reserve. It has developed protocols on universal design, beauty and durability for its buildings.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides executive-level leadership and strategic direction to the financial, accounting and treasury functions of the organization and is a critical member of the executive team.

Aspire is seeking an experienced finance professional with a track record of success in a complex, dynamic environment. They will be passionate about the mission of Aspire to positively transform the lives of those with developmental disabilities. This person will have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in finance and at least three years in management at a complex, distributed organization.  The successful candidate will embody the following attributes and skills necessary for the role:

• The CFO will demonstrate a high level of initiative, sense of urgency, accountability and results-oriented organizational and leadership abilities with a capacity to work independently and as part of a team. 

• The CFO will be familiar with financial and accounting rules and compliance, preferably in nonprofits.

• The successful candidate will have the ability to analyze complex issues and simplify it in lay terms for other members of the Aspire team.

• A true servant leader, the CFO must have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent listening skills, and be an open yet tactful and persuasive communicator, both verbally and in writing. 

• Realistic and optimistic, the successful candidate will establish positive relationships and exhibit confidence when working with the Board of Directors, staff, outside consultants, and other key stakeholders. 

• Analytical with strong strategic planning skills as well as comfortable with day-to-day management, the CFO should be an inclusive leader who is collaborative, transparent, and self-aware. They will be good at setting priorities and will possess the ability to manage multiple tasks, flex and function simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 

• The successful candidate will attract, lead, and develop highly proficient teams.

• The person in this position will bring a mindset of continuous improvement and be a model of integrity and fairness with high ethical standards.

The salary range for this position annually is between $130,000 and $150,000 and will be commensurable with experience. Aspire offers a comprehensive set of benefits including health, life, disability, and pet insurance; 403(b) retirement plan and generous paid time off.
