Chief Executive Officer (Albertina Kerr Centers)

Company: Albertina Kerr Centers
Location: Portland, OR

Chief Executive Officer
Albertina Kerr Centers

Witt Kieffer is honored to collaborate with Albertina Kerr Centers (Kerr) and their Board in recruiting a Chief Executive Officer. Established in 1907 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Kerr's services have evolved to meet the community’s needs. Today, Kerr empowers people experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental health challenges, and other social barriers to lead self-determined lives and reach their full potential. They provide comprehensive crisis and preventive mental health care for children and teens, as well as a full range of services for children and adults experiencing an I/DD. With a staff of over 1,100 and a budget exceeding $45M, Kerr has been the yardstick by which many other organizations measure themselves.

The CEO will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision for the organization that responds to the quality of care, facilities/operations requirements, funding streams and financial stability that is required for Kerr to stay true to its mission. This leader will serve as the external voice/face of Kerr, the chief advocate and be capable of telling the story to raise its visibility and awareness among all key influencers, public and private stakeholders. Since governmental funding is such a strong component of Kerr's current funding, the CEO must cultivate solid relationships at the State and Federal government ranks. Over time, the need to diversify those funding streams is crucial and Kerr's new CEO must display transformational leadership abilities, especially to identify and retain new sources of funding and to develop strategic alliances with peer organizations.

In order to be successful, the CEO should possess a compelling personal interest in Kerr's mission. The ideal candidate will have a track record as a successful senior executive in a complex, multi-site human services or behavioral health organization with a regional or national reputation for excellence. Knowledge and compassion for the issues faced by children and adults with special needs, complex developmental disabilities, emotional, behavioral and related disabilities is greatly valued. The CEO must have strong financial acumen and business orientation. Experience successfully managing the entire spectrum of an organization's complete financial performance is essential. Experience in an organization whose revenues come from state/federal agencies is highly desired. With the right CEO, Kerr has an opportunity to become the unquestioned leader in serving the I/DD community with new and innovative models that address the realities of access, affordability, and outcomes.
