As a Board Member-at-Large, I will strive to give greater voice to the provider/practitioner community, build a membership that is intentionally diverse and inclusive, grow membership among ‘pracademics’ as an emerging body of experts to the Association, and expand and extend the reach of AAIDD’s considerable influence in research, policy and practice among the provider community. Through established and future formal AAIDD and partner association networks, I will work to formalize opportunities for the provider community to link with established academicians and researchers to grow partnerships that explore the intersection of applied and translational research and practice and policy, and enhance opportunities for publication of provider-based and initiated participatory research. I look forward to contributing to AAIDD’s strategy, which will inevitably evolve against the backdrop of the pandemic, to deepen and expand the value of AAIDD membership across a range of constituencies, and grow membership as a result.
