SUPPORTS

AAIDD has been a leading force in advocating for the supports paradigm — a positive and forward-thinking approach that shifts the focus from deficits to the unique strengths of each individual. Over the last decade, AAIDD has developed tools and materials to advance that emerging paradigm. Most recently, AAIDD published the Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) , the world’s first planning tool that allows professionals to glean comprehensive information on the practical supports a person needs to live a life of individual choice in society. Discover SIS at www.siswebsite.org
