Active Sustaining membership is for current and future leaders in our field who wish to support the critically important research, policy, advocacy, and service Mission of the Association. Membership dues include print copies and online access to both of our highly ranked journals: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and American Journal on Mental Retardation. In addition to networking opportunities with colleagues in the field, Sustaining Members receive FYI-the Association’s monthly electronic newsletter; access to Washington Watch; member discounts at conferences; discounts on books and other publications; and discounts on classified advertisements in AAIDD’s Career Connections, our online career service where resumes are posted for free.

Active Young Professional membership is available to college graduates who are new to the disability field and have incomes less than $25,000 per year. Active Retired Membership is for AAIDD members who have retired from the field but wish to remain involved in the Association. Active Retired membership includes online access to one of our highly ranked journals: either Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or the American Journal on Mental Retardation. Retired Members will receive FYI-the Association’s monthly electronic newsletter; access to Washington Watch; and they will continue to receive member benefits including conference discounts and reduced prices for books and other publications. In addition to being able to contact friends in the field, Retired Members are eligible to vote, hold office, to join Action Workgroups, and to have access to the Members Only section of the AAIDD web site. Retired Members will be told about new AAIDD activities and they will be welcomed at all AAIDD events including training institutes, annual meetings, public policy seminars, and other special activities.

The Chief Executive of the sponsoring organization receives a full Active membership in the Association, which includes print and online access to both of our highly ranked journals: Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and the American Journal on Mental Retardation. As the Corporate Principal Member you can also enroll an unlimited number of your employees as members and you will receive a reduction in dues for each employee.
