Divisions, SIGs, Regions and Chapters

 

Divisions & Sigs

AAIDD's has Divisions, SIGS and Action Groups to coordinate professional and divisional activities within the Association. These divisions oversee programs for continuing education and promote membership and membership services at the divisional level for AAIDD's diverse membership. You may join any divisions and/or SIGs that may be of professional interest to you for a nominal fee per division/SIG.

Regions & Chapters

Throughout North America, AAIDD's members automatically become members of the Chapter and Region in which they hold their national membership. Ten Regions cover most of North America and each state/province typically has a Chapter organization.

You can participate in these organizations by attending their meetings, educational programs and annual meeting.

You can get involved and serve in a leadership capacity as a committee member, chairperson, or even be elected to their board of directors or an officer of the chapter or region.

Chapters and Regional organizations provide members with an additional opportunity to be a leader in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field while serving the association.

Action Groups

Through Action Plan groups and networks, many more members will be able to participate in the activities of the Association in ways that best utilize their talents and engage their interest. We also expect that AAIDD will be able to deliver many valuable services to our members, the field, and, most important, to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
